With more than 30,000 foster children in LA County and nearly half a million in the US, Our Open House serves as a resource and community for prospective and current foster and foster-to-adopt families, and provides ways to support and advocate for children in foster care.

WHO WE ARE
We are the VanValins. We were introduced to the foster care system through a series of fortunate events and quickly realized that we wanted to open our home and provide an environment that allows children to heal, grow, and develop healthy attachments that would benefit them for the rest of their lives. Through our process we discovered the need for a community to help answer our questions and walk alongside us on the long journey ahead. This is the heart behind Our Open House. Our mission is to provide resources for current and prospective foster and foster-to-adopt families, and to tangibly support the foster community as a whole.
IMPACT
Our Open House is able to provide support to foster families because of the generous donations and financial contributions of our partners. Every donation fills a direct need in this under-served community! We partner with the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services, and with other local, foster care focused, charitable organizations, to provide items in the areas of comfort, rest, travel and baby essentials.
Our Open House is a registered 501(c)(3) and all contributions are tax deductible. Funds received over and above the current budget of the solicited purpose will be put into a designated area of need, or into the general fund.
